Playing around

When I was at the Paint Mines, I took a number of shoots that I planned to use while experimenting with Photomatix. Photomatix is software that can be used to blend photos of various exposures in to a single high dynamic range (HDR) photo. I have a trial copy of the software, so please excuse the watermarks. Here's the slightly edited results.

Air Force Academy

Kelly and I started hiking along the Santa Fe Trail thru the AFA while waiting for 8:00am (when the academy open's to the public). It was extremely windy! I couldn't take some shots because the wind was blowing me off balance.

Around the House

Today a fog bank moved in around noon and covered the area where we live. Very cool. Here's a picture of it. If you click on the picture, you'll be taken to a new gallery of pictures taken from around our home. You'll need a password, so if you interested, ask...

HooDoo?

We do - Kelly and I visited the Paint Mines Park out in the praries east of Colorado Springs, near Calhan, Co. This park contains colorful clays in crazy shapes and sandstone capped HooDoos. Trails wind through the gullies and out in the exposed prarie. While I puttered around taking photos, Kelly ran around the park 3 times.

Lunch time walk

For lunch, I took a walk around Garden of the Gods. For those of you not from Colorado, Garden of the Gods is an awesome local city park full of colorful rock formations. Its a great place to walk, run or bike (if you can avoid the tourists in the road) Luckily, its just a few miles from home.

Fall Colors

I got a chance to go on my first photo drive in Colorado! The aspens are changing colors and there traces of snow on Pike's Peak. Click on the photo to see a few other pictures.
