Morning in San Francisco

Early morning is the best time in which to visit the city. The light is beautiful and the traffic is light.

Go to Scenic Sundays for other great scenes.

Peaceful and delicate in colours, and I love the contrasts!

Gorgeous early morning light! Wow! I love the pinkish-orange color! Good shot!

Beautiful shot! You got the angle perfectly to silhouette the foreground and diffuse the light.

Doesn't look like a city... if I turned 180 degress would I see buildings?

Did you use a tripode for this shot?

I love the exposure.

I guess Alcatraz is a give away that it's the city! Wonderful shot! It makes me want to get my butt out of bed early and head on over to the City by the Bay to take some shots! Maybe I'll do that one day this summer - it's only an hour away...Thanks for your visit!

Lovely silhouette shot Russ. You have composed this beautifully.

Thank!

Manz - from this spot, if you turned 180 degrees, you'd see the base of a cliff. From the pier out in the water, you'd see the San Francisco skyline with the Golden Gate bridge behind you. I usually geotag my photos, but I guess I forgot on this one.

Linnea - The city is a great place to photograph. Actually, the whole bay area. I miss a number of things from living out there (but not the traffic!)

Oh yeah - about the tripod. I did not. This picture only looks dark. I positioned myself so that the sun was just barely hidden by the roof line of the building. I then set the exposure for the bright part of the sky and composed the shot. Which greatly under exposed the foreground. The shutter speed was pretty fast as a result.

Thanks for the reply Russ.
