Hat and gear hanging at Bent's Old Fort National Historic site near La Junta, Co. This is from the collection of photo's I took when I visited there about a month ago.
I'm using some older photos in the blog because I don't have a lot of new ones. For the last month, I've been doing a lot of experimenting and don't have a lot of new photos worthy of sharing. I've been playing with candids, portraits, learning how to use a flash, different techniques, and unusual (for me) subjects. It's been a lot of fun, and I'm learning a lot.
I'm looking forward to the Memorial Day weekend here in the US. We'll be heading up into the mountains for the long weekend of hiking, photography and relaxation.
Be sure to visit Sepia Scenes!

This immediately put me in mind of Civil War gear I've seen. I love the simplicity of the image and the striking shadows behind it.
Old shots are always fun to dig out and play with. Nicely done. Looking forward to more after the holidays.
The intense shadow-play adds an artistic flare.
That sounds like a great idea for the long Memorial weekend! Can't wait to see the photos, especially of the mountains!
Prayers are needed, swing by my page for details, please!
Great subject. Is this what they call still photography?
Enjoy the mountain trip, bring back a ton of photos, okay?

This is a great frontier (to this suburbanite)shot. The hat looks old, but nothing styled today will keep your head warm. The holster and satchel add to this feeling of the old west...
I really like your sepia scene. It seems like it is just floating there like a memory waiting to be recalled.
Wonderful. So evocative. You have a great time and show us your experiments!
I love the simplicity of this shot. Hope you can stop by to see my sepia scene Thanks!
I love the outdorsy and old look to your photo. It is an excellent shot.
