I had a hard time with this image. If not keep in check, I tend to lean towards dark, low key images. I fight that impulse by consciously adjusting towards the brighter end of the spectrum if I feel exposure adjustments are needed. Quite often I'll save a dark and a light version of an image. Later, after 'sleeping' on it, I'll usually end up liking the brighter image when compared side-to-side.
Not this one. It seems to call for a dark, brooding mode.

Oh I like this brooding angry image a lot. It's spectacular.
Dark and rooding indeed. I hope the little tree is a match for the storm.
I like how you captured the mystery in nature. Well done.
Nice clouds. Wonderful shot.
Great photo!
That is art!
Great threatening sky!
This tree seems to be the lone holdout against the sky. The tree is standing defiantly against the clouds, almost inviting a response from the heavens...
Yes, I like this image very much. Ominous!
I just love the atmosphere you captured here.
In this case it's a good thing that your dark side won. Very striking image.
Beautiful! I love this kind of sky...dark and dramatic...
Fantastic photo! I agree this one needs to be dark and brooding.
At first glance it does appear dark due to the elements, but it's certainly not low key. There aren't many "bright" colors, but the brightness varies constantly and complexly through the photo. Excellent shot.
the sky is very dramatic!
Dramatic sky! And there is something about the image that makes med feel a bit of a melancholy! I like it when photos give me a feeling - no matter if it is happy - or not! Wonderful photo!
