The flower pictured here is known locally as a "Butter and Eggs" (Linaria vulgaris). It has always been one of my favorite summer wildflowers. So, I was very surprised to learn that this flower is considered a weed! Apparently it is not native to North America (it was imported in the 1600's) and is considered to be an invasive species in several states and provinces. Some of these so called "weeds" really should be something more... they really are pretty & the ladybug is an added bonus!

It's a beautiful weed! I think it looks somewhat like a snapdragon. Did you realize the ladybug was posing when you snapped this...or did you see her later. Nice shot...I like the vertical hold.

We have this flower too - we call it toadflax. I'm very fond of it, it's cheerful and actually not particularly invasive here. I suppose things are invasive only when out of their natural environment!
